Senior Access Points is a Larimer County coalition that delivers education and awareness about
aging-related resources and supports available to older adults and caregivers. Older adults and
caregivers often don’t know where to look for aging-related resources and they may not begin their
search until a crisis hits. SAP Ambassadors help to reach community residents with basic
information such as the Senior Access Points website (LarimerSeniors.org) and the Office on
Aging’s Options Counseling phone number (970-498-7740) so that residents know where to begin
Visit community hubs such as senior centers, libraries, and doctors’ offices, helping to
educate “front line” staff about resources so that they are equipped to help residents
navigate aging-related challenges.
Share information within neighborhoods, communities and local groups. Ambassadors do
not deliver one-on-one counseling to help individuals solve problems but rather explain
how to find and navigate local resources.
Attend community events, staff booths, and conduct presentations with the SAP team in
order to share information.
Complete documentation on outreach efforts and provide ongoing feedback to the SAP
team about outreach experiences and questions/issues that come up in the field.
SAP Ambassadors must have a desire to help individuals in our community navigate the
complex tasks of caring for aging loved ones, have a professional and courteous
demeanor, have a desire to learn and keep current about existing aging-related resources
in our community, have experience and comfort with technology, including website
navigation and using e-mail regularly, and have a willingness to take part in and help to
shape a new program, including having a flexible attitude and tolerating some ambiguity
Volunteers need reliable transportation and car insurance. The position does not include
transporting other persons, but may include driving to different community sites and
delivering materials (such as brochures and fliers) to selected locations. Mileage will be
reimbursed by Larimer County Extension which is the administrative organization for the
Senior Access Points project.
Training and Support:
SAP Volunteers will receive a 2-hour training on aging-related tools and resources.
The SAP team will organize quarterly volunteer meetings and be available for ongoing
consultation and support.
SAP volunteers will be asked to commit to the program for at least six months with an
estimated 8 hour time commitment each month. Volunteers will create their own
